WHITE MUMMER IN MALKO TURNOVO
Strandja’s “white mummer” is the most ancient form of celebrating this holiday in Bulgaria. The Mummer’s day in Strandja has been celebrated on the first Sunday before Lent and it has a carnival’s character. Only and entirely in Strandja the carnival emerges in its old – time form of “white mummer”, i.e. a mummer without a mask, and with uncovered face.

There will be presented traditional crafts and elements of the intangible cultural heritage of the region.
FIRE – DANCES – MALKO TURNOVO
On 23rd August, on the holiday of Malko Turnovo this ancient tradition is performed. The ritual fire – dance is a unique phenomenon in Bulgarian rituals, which hasn’t still revealed its full mystery.
